I've read other posts about folks questioning whether 5th is an overdrive gear and if one should downshift to 4th when accelerating. I treat 5th as any other gear...just twist the throttle and go; it accelerates just as quickly as 4th does. Being in Vegas, the air is very heavy, so I'll admit I'm in ideal riding conditions. I had the bike up in Idaho for a couple of weeks and noticed a marked reduction in power due to the thin air.
